About

My name is Javier Reyes. I am a physics and chemistry teacher at Gwendolyn Brooks High School. I have taught science for the past 5 years and have gotten a chance to work with honors and inclusion classes.

I had the opportunity to work in Dr. Royston’s Acoustics and Vibrations lab this summer learning about elastography, phantoms, and mouse ventilators for magnetic resonance elastography. Elastography is a noninvasive imaging technique that uses mechanical waves and detectors to measure stiffness in viscoelastic materials like organs. It is used in medical imaging to diagnose certain diseases, track the progress of the disease, or track the effectiveness of treatment of the disease.
