Infinity Math, Science, and Technology High School

About

Tammy Pheuphong is the Chemistry teacher at Infinity Math, Science, and Technology High School located in Little Village. She grew up on the south side of Chicago and attended both CPS elementary and high schools. Tammy then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Kalamazoo College. She is entering her fourth year of teaching in Chicago Public Schools, and before teaching for CPS, Tammy taught Chemistry for four years at Northlands School, an international school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Upon returning to the USA, Tammy received her Master’s in Secondary Education and is now happy to be putting down roots in her hometown.

In addition to teaching Chemistry, Tammy has been developing a new Forensic Science course at her high school. Her work with Dr. Khetani and the MTM lab has allowed her to recreate a unit on Forensic Toxicology. The Microfabricated Tissues Models (MTM) lab designs micropatterned co-culture models to study liver cells and tissues, which has extensive applications for drug research and development. Tammy has spent the summer working with brilliant students (high school, undergraduate, Masters, and PhD) in the MTM lab, and she has truly enjoyed being part of a community of continuous learning.
