About

Christopher McDaniel is a science teacher at Farragut Career Academy. Mr. McDaniel was born and raised on the southside of Chicago and is a product of Chicago Public Schools. He received his B.S. in Chemistry/Secondary Education from Chicago State University and has been a science teacher in the Chicago Public School system for the past seven years. In his experience as a Chicago Public School teacher he has a taught a wide range of sciences courses including: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, ACT Prep Science, Earth and Environmental Science. Currently Mr. McDaniel teaches Chemistry and International Baccalaureate Biology at Farragut Career Academy in the Little VIllage neighborhood of Chicago. Little Village is a predominantly hispanic neighborhood on the southwest side of Chicago. Due to a lack of resources and limited funding the students lack access to basic lab equipment and have very little knowledge of Bioengineering. Mr. McDaniel was interested in Dr. Eddington’s Hack-a-Lab project because it provided him with the opportunity to produce low cost scientific lab equipment with a 3d printer. This will give his students needed access to quality scientific lab equipment and a valuable introduction into bioengineering.
