About
Anita Hudson teaches Medical and Health Professionals also known as “Allied Health / Health Science” at Gage Park High School. This is a special program called Career Technical Education (CTE) offered at certain schools around the Chicago Public Schools area.
Anita was raised on the westside of Chicago where she graduated from a Chicago Public High School called “William Howard Taft” She decided she wanted to focus her career choices in the health field. She attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a degree in Biology where she learned that she enjoyed science classes. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science with a Biology degree with a minor in Chemistry. After graduation, she realized her career pathway needed more than a Bachelor's degree. So she graduated with a degree in Masters of Physical Therapy program at Governors State University. After working several years, she realized she wanted more out of her career by having more opportunities in the health field so she graduated with a degree in Masters of Health Services Administration at National Louis University.
Anita was selected to be a fellow participant of the 2024 Biomedical Engineering Experience for Science Teachers (BEST) program for the summer at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab with James “Jim” Patton. This is her 3rd year teaching and being the Lead of Allied Health Program. She is excited to learn how to incorporate her curriculum on the nervous system with the experiences from the bioengineering researchers and their knowledge on robotic manipulations. She wants her students to be exposed to more career opportunities in the biomedical engineering pathway so they can understand the connection to the real world.
