Russell Frye
Bronzeville Scholastic Institute
About
Russ Frye teaches biology and chemistry at Bronzeville Scholastic Institute. After earning his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in biology from Morehouse College, he participated in the Chicago Teaching Fellows Program during which time he earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) from Dominican University. For Russ, participation in the BEST program was an extension of his commitment to the exploration and application of scientific principles and techniques, and his interest in creating engaging STEM inquiry activities for his students.
Russ’ lesson is integral to an overarching unit focusing on brain and behavior. Following the exploration of the neuron, brain structure and function, students will probe the dynamics of EEG and its underlying connection to neuronal activity associated with cerebral anatomy and orchestration of action.
